Beef Cheek Barbacoa
Ingredients
- 3 lbs about 1.36 kg beef cheeks, trimmed of excess fat
- 2 tsp 10 ml sea salt, or to taste
- 1 cup 240 ml beef broth (optional, for added moisture)
Instructions
- Season Beef Cheeks: Rub the beef cheeks with sea salt and optional chipotle powder for added flavor.
- Arrange in Slow Cooker: Place the seasoned beef cheeks in the slow cooker. If using, pour beef broth over the cheeks to help maintain moisture during cooking.
- Slow Cook: Cover and cook on low for 8- 10 hours, or until the beef cheeks are very tender and can easily be shredded with a fork.
- Shred and Serve: Remove the beef cheeks from the slow cooker and shred them using two forks. If desired, you can return the shredded meat to the slow cooker to mix with the juices for extra flavor.
