Ingredients

  • 3 lbs about 1.36 kg beef chuck roast, cut into 2-inch chunks
  • 1 tbsp 15 ml sea salt, or to taste
  • 1 cup 240 ml beef tallow

Instructions

  • Preparation: Season the beef chunks generously with sea salt.
  • Melting Tallow: Place the beef tallow in the slow cooker and set it to low to allow the tallow to melt. This should take about 10-15 minutes.
  • Cooking Beef: Once the tallow has melted, add the seasoned beef chunks to the slow cooker. Stir to ensure each piece is coated in tallow.
  • Slow Cooking: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the beef is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  • Shredding and Crisping: Remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. For added texture, you can crisp the shredded beef in a skillet over high heat for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serving: Serve the shredded beef as is.
