Seared Tuna Steaks with Butter

Ingredients
  

  • For the Tuna:
  • 2 fresh tuna steaks approximately 6 ounces each
  • 2 tablespoons lard
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened

Instructions
 

Season the Tuna Steaks:

  • Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
  • Brush both sides with lard.
  • Season with salt.

Sear the Tuna Steaks:

  • Heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over high heat until very hot.
  • Place the tuna steaks in the pan and sear for about 1-2 minutes per side for rare to medium-rare doneness. Adjust cooking time based on thickness and desired doneness.
  • Remove from the pan and let rest for a minute.

Serve:

  • Top each tuna steak with a dollop of the butter
  • Serve immediately, allowing the butter to melt over the warm tuna.
