Seared Tuna Steaks with Butter
Ingredients
- For the Tuna:
- 2 fresh tuna steaks approximately 6 ounces each
- 2 tablespoons lard
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
Instructions
Season the Tuna Steaks:
- Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
- Brush both sides with lard.
- Season with salt.
Sear the Tuna Steaks:
- Heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over high heat until very hot.
- Place the tuna steaks in the pan and sear for about 1-2 minutes per side for rare to medium-rare doneness. Adjust cooking time based on thickness and desired doneness.
- Remove from the pan and let rest for a minute.
Serve:
- Top each tuna steak with a dollop of the butter
- Serve immediately, allowing the butter to melt over the warm tuna.
