Ingredients

  • 2 lbs about 0.9 kg firm white fish fillets (such as cod, halibut, or seabass), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 cups about 950 ml fish broth
  • 1 cup about 240 ml heavy cream, chilled
  • 1 teaspoon about 5 ml salt, or to taste

Optional:

  • 1/2 teaspoon about 2.5 ml black pepper, or to taste (for those who include spices in their carnivore diet)

Instructions

  • Preparing the Broth: In a large pot, bring the fish broth to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Season with salt, and if using, add black pepper.
  • Cooking the Fish: Add the bite-sized fish pieces to the simmering broth. Cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and cooked through. Avoid overcooking to ensure the fish remains tender.
  • Adding Cream: Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream, mixing gently to combine. Warm the soup through, but do not allow it to boil after adding the cream to prevent curdling.
  • Final Adjustments: Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning if needed. The soup should have a delicate, creamy texture with the natural flavor of the fish enhanced by the broth and cream.
  • Serving: Once the soup is thoroughly heated and flavored to your liking, ladle it into bowls. Serve immediately, offering a comforting and nutritious meal.
