Classic Steak and Eggs
Ingredients
- 2 ribeye steaks approximately 1-inch thick
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Salt to taste
Instructions
Prepare the Steaks:
- Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
- Season both sides generously with salt
Cook the Steaks:
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter to the skillet.
- Once the butter has melted and is sizzling, place the steaks in the skillet.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust the time according to your preferred level of doneness.
- Once cooked, transfer the steaks to a plate and let them rest.
Prepare the Eggs:
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low.
- Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Crack the eggs into the skillet, being careful not to break the yolks.
- Season with a pinch of salt.
- Cook until the whites are set but the yolks remain runny, about 2-3 minutes.
Serve:
- Place each steak on a plate.
- Top each steak with two eggs.
- Garnish with fresh thyme leaves if desired.
- Serve immediately
