Sausage and Pepper Sandwich
Ingredients
- 4 oz Italian sausage sliced lengthwise
- 1 T olive oil
- 1 onion sliced
- 2 garlic cloves sliced
- 1 red bell pepper chopped
- 1 yellow bell pepper chopped
- ½ t dried basil
- Sea salt and black pepper to taste
- ½ t cayenne pepper
- 2 5-inch Keto rolls or buns
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook the sausages over medium heat for 8 to 9 minutes, turning them so they are cooked on all sides. Remove the sausages from the skillet and keep warm.
- In the same skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and sauté for 2 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
- Add the bell peppers, basil, sea salt, black pepper, and cayenne and cook for 5 minutes, until the peppers are soft.
- Return the sausages to the skillet, and cook for 1 minute.
- Slice the rolls in half lengthwise and fill them with sausage and pepper mixture. Serve immediately.
