Seafood Gumbo
Ingredients
- 2 lbs about 900g mixed seafood (shrimp, scallops, crab meat, and/or fish pieces)
- 4 cups about 1 liter fish or seafood broth
- 1 tsp 5 ml sea salt, or to taste
Optional:
- 1/2 tsp 2.5 ml cayenne pepper or other spices (for those who include spices)
Instructions
- Prepare Seafood: For shrimp, peel and devein. Cut fish into bite-sized pieces.
- Season and Combine: Place the seafood in the slow cooker. Season with sea salt and optional spices. Pour the fish or seafood broth over the top, ensuring all the seafood is covered.
- Slow Cook: Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours, or just until the seafood is cooked through. It’s important not to overcook the seafood to prevent it from becoming tough.
- Serve: Serve the Seafood “Gumbo” hot. For a true carnivore approach, enjoy as is. For those incorporating some flexibility in their carnivore diet, you might serve this over a bed of cauliflower rice.
