Ingredients
  

  • 1 whole chicken about 4-5 lbs or 1.8-2.3 kg
  • 1 tbsp 15 ml sea salt, or to taste

Optional:

  • 1/2 tsp 2.5 ml black pepper, or to taste (for those who include spices)
  • 1/2 tsp 2.5 ml paprika, or to taste (for those who include spices)

Instructions
 

  • Prepare Chicken: Remove any giblets from the chicken and pat the skin dry with paper towels. Season the chicken inside and out with sea salt and optional spices.
  • Set Up Slow Cooker: To mimic a rotisserie effect, roll up several aluminum foil balls (about 2-3 inches in diameter) and place them at the bottom of the slow cooker. Place the seasoned chicken on top of the foil balls, ensuring it does not touch the sides of the slow cooker.
  • Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and the juices run clear when the thigh is pierced with a knife.
  • Optional Crisping: For a crispy skin, carefully transfer the cooked chicken to a baking sheet. Broil in the oven for 3-5 minutes, or until the skin is golden and crispy. Watch closely to avoid burning.
  • Serve: Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving. Serve hot, with juices from the slow cooker spooned over the meat if desired.
