Carnivore Cast Iron Skillet Pizza

This high-protein, zero-carb pizza is perfect for those following a carnivore or keto diet. Using a cheese-based crust and a cast iron skillet for a crispy, golden texture, this pizza delivers all the meaty goodness without the carbs.

Ingredients:

For the crust:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 oz cream cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup finely ground pork rinds (or ¼ cup almond flour for a keto option)
  • ½ tsp salt

For the toppings:

  • ½ cup sugar-free marinara sauce (optional)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup cooked sausage or ground beef
  • ¼ cup pepperoni slices
  • ¼ cup cooked bacon bits
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Cast Iron Skillet:
Place your cast iron skillet on medium heat and lightly grease it with beef tallow, butter, or ghee. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Make the Crust:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the mozzarella and cream cheese in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
    • Mix in the egg, ground pork rinds (or almond flour), and salt until a dough forms.
    • Spread the dough evenly in the preheated cast iron skillet, pressing it out to form the pizza base.
  3. Pre-Bake the Crust:
    • Cook on medium heat for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
    • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 6-8 minutes until the crust is firm and lightly golden.
  4. Add Toppings:
    • Spread a thin layer of sugar-free marinara (if using).
    • Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese.
    • Add sausage, pepperoni, and bacon bits.
    • Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and season with Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
  5. Bake Until Golden:
    • Place back in the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
    • For extra crispiness, broil for the last 1-2 minutes.
  6. Cool & Serve:
    • Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing.
    • Enjoy a delicious, carnivore-friendly pizza that’s crispy on the outside and loaded with flavor!

Tip: For an extra meaty crust, swap the cheese dough for a ground beef crust—just press seasoned ground beef into the skillet and cook until browned before adding toppings.
