Slow-Cooked Pork Soup
Slow-Cooked Pork Soup is a hearty and comforting dish made by simmering tender pork in a flavorful broth with vegetables and seasonings. The slow-cooking process ensures the pork becomes melt-in-your-mouth soft while infusing the soup with rich, savory flavors. Perfect for a cozy meal, it’s both satisfying and easy to prepare.

Slow-Cooked Pork Soup
Ingredients
- 2 lbs about 0.9 kg pork shoulder, cut into chunks
- 6 cups about 1.4 liters pork broth or water
- 1 teaspoon about 5 ml salt, or to taste
Optional:
- 1/2 teaspoon about 2.5 ml black pepper, or to taste (for those who include spices in their carnivore diet)
Instructions
- Preparing the Pork: Place the pork shoulder chunks in the slow cooker.
- Adding Liquid: Pour the pork broth or water over the pork. If using water, the pork will create its own flavorful broth as it cooks.
- Seasoning: Sprinkle the salt over the pork, adding black pepper if using. Adjust the seasoning to your preference.
- Slow Cooking: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork is very tender and falls apart easily.
- Shredding the Pork: Once the pork is cooked through, use two forks to shred the meat directly in the slow cooker. Stir the shredded pork back into the soup, ensuring it’s well mixed with the broth.
- Final Adjustments: Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning if necessary. The soup should have a rich, concentrated pork flavor.
- Serving: Serve the soup hot, ensuring each bowl has a generous portion of tender, shredded pork.
