Liver Detox Soup
Ingredients
- 1 lb about 450 g beef liver, cleaned and thinly sliced
- 6 cups about 1.4 liters beef broth
Instructions
- Preparing the Liver: Begin by rinsing the beef liver under cold water to remove any impurities. Pat dry with paper towels and then slice the liver into thin strips or small pieces to ensure it cooks evenly and quickly.
- Simmering the Liver: In a large pot, bring the beef broth to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Add the sliced beef liver to the broth. The key is to simmer the liver gently to keep it tender; boiling it too vigorously can make it tough.
- Cooking: Allow the liver to cook in the simmering broth for about 10-15 minutes, or until it is fully cooked but still tender. Overcooking liver can detract from its flavor and texture, so keep an eye on the cooking time.
- Seasoning: Season the soup with salt to taste. If you’re including optional spices in your carnivore diet, you can also add a pinch of black pepper or other carnivore-compliant spices for added flavor.
- Serving: Once the liver is cooked and the soup is seasoned to your liking, remove it from heat. Serve the liver detox soup hot, ensuring each bowl is filled with both broth and generous pieces of liver.
