Keto Croque Madame

My mom used to make Croque Madame sandwiches for me as a kid, which is basically a fancy name for a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with an egg on top. Naturally, it always feels dangerous to attempt to keto-fy something so perfect as is/as was. However, it seemed like the perfect recipe for my rich and buttery Keto bread. The Croque Madame is one of those meals that is delicious for breakfast, lunch OR dinner. If you’re not into the fried egg, you can always make it a Croque Monsieur and leave it off. Don’t forget to season with salt, pepper and Everything But The seasoning (always) for sandwich perfection. Bon Appetit!
Keto Croque Madame
Ingredients
- 4 slices Upgraded Health Keto Bread
- 1 eggs
- 2 tbsp butter or coconut oil
- 4 slices of smoked deli ham
- 2 slices of cheddar cheese
- 2 eggs
- salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cut four thin slices from your Upgraded Health Keto Bread. Spread a small amount of butter on one side of each slice.
- Before turning on heat, place two slices of bread butter side down on a grill pan or a skillet. Next stack one a slice of cheese, two slices of ham, and the other slice of bread, butter side up for both sandwiches.
- Over medium heat, cook until bread is golden and cheese starts to melt, then flip sandwich on the other side.
- While the other side cooks, add a small amount of coconut oil to a small pan. Fry one egg, sunny side up and remove from heat.
- Once two small sandwiches are grilled on both sides, remove from head, and add sunny-side egg on top. Season with salt and pepper to taste and enjoy!
