- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet with a lid over medium-high heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery (the “holy trinity” of Cajun cooking) and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in the garlic and Cajun seasoning and cook for 1 minute more.
- Add the rice and stir to coat it in the beef and seasonings.
- Pour in the broth and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Fluff with a fork and serve hot, with a dash of hot sauce if desired.
