Place 1½ cups water and a steamer rack or trivet with handles in the inner bowl of the Instant Pot.
Add 1 cup of water to the Instant Pot. Place a trivet in the pot. Place the squash on top of the trivet and secure the lid.
Move the vent knob to the sealed position and cook on high pressure for 15 minutes.
Carefully open the vent to quickly release the pressure.
Remove the squash from the pot and when cool enough to handle, slice the squash in half and remove the seeds.
Shred the squash flesh with a fork.
