The Top 10 Healthy Halloween Candy Alternatives

The Top 10 Healthy Halloween Candy Alternatives
I COULD tell you that most of the candy consumed during Halloween does NOT contain sugar, rather it contains High-Fructose Corn Syrup derived from GMO corn.

I COULD tell you that the majority of candy eaten by children during Halloween contain toxic amounts of preservatives, additives, and food colorings.

I COULD tell you all of the milk chocolate comes from mistreated cows fed GMO corn, soy, and grains.

BUT, instead I’m going to focus on BETTER options and choices you can make on Halloween and beyond!

I recently stumbled upon an article with the 12 most popular Halloween candy, which after reading decided to change the title from most popular to “most unhealthy”, here they are:

1.)    Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

2.)    Hershey’s Chocolate Bars

3.)    Milky Way

4.)    Kit Kat

5.)    Snickers

6.)    Twix

7.)    Skittles

8.)    M&Ms

9.)    Nerds

10.) Twizzlers

11.) Tootsie Rolls

12.) Candy Corn

I haven’t eaten ANY of the above in almost 10 years, around the time I dove headfirst in the world of holistic nutrition and it is my strong belief that you should avoid ALL of the above candies for the rest of your life, like I plan on doing!

Whenever I recommend someone avoid or restrict certain products, I ALWAYS like to give substitutions and/or alternatives, so you don’t go about your way of eating with a restrictive mindset.

Below you will find my favorite Halloween candy and candy in general. Now, not ALL of the ingredients are ideal and/or perfect, but they are significantly better than the above alternatives.

I LOVE these lollilops, but more importantly I have successfully switched over my niece (3) to preferring these over the HFCS alternative!

Crispy Cat Mint Coconut (12x 1.75 oz bars, $31.47)

These chocolate bars are SO amazing, I can’t order these by the box load because I will literally eat them ALL in 2 or 3 days, it’s kinda ridiculous how awesome these are. Get ya some!

Stretch Island Fruit Leather – Strawberry (30, $14.60)

These are the perfect alternative to Fruit Roll Ups and they come in an easy to disperse 30 pack at a really great price. I see these at grocery stores going for sometimes close to $1/each!

Theo Classic Organic (70% Cacao) Dark Chocolate, 3-Ounce Bars (Pack of 12)

Most of the time this is my chocolate bar of choice, since I like the fact that is doe NOT contain soy lecithin, which I generally try to avoid. This chocolate bar makes a great Holiday gift and self Halloween treat!

Yum Earth organic gummy Worms (12×2.5oz, $17.13)

Duh…more gummies.

YumEarth Sour Jelly Beans (10pk 20g ea. $5.99)

The YumEarth Organics products are my favorite product!

Even if you don’t purchase the above products, the most important ingredient to AVOID is High Fructose Corn Syrup and Aspartame and Sucralose and well…the list could go on and on. Just remember to read your INGREDIENTS list on the back of every single product you buy or you allow your children to eat.

Educate yourself and others on why certain ingredients are more ideal than others.

Do you have a candy favorite that you have a question on or could suggest I ADD to my list?
