If you can’t seem to find the motivation to exercise or eat healthy I’m going to fix that problem. Well, actually I don’t need to fix anything…because lack of motivation isn’t a problem, it’s a mindset.
Can you already tell this isn’t going to be your average “motivational message?”
WARNING: I might sound harsh with a few points in this post, BUT trust me I’m compassionate about what you’re going through. I’m also empathetic with you, because I’ve been there too.
Lack of motivation is frustrating , right?
You need motivation, fine. Let’s do this.
Here goes…okay first, remember: You can have excuses, or you can move. Your choice.
If this isn’t the type of motivation you need, go head and leave now.
Do you want some motivation right now?
Do you want to FINALLY get consistent with your exercise program?
Are you sick of random bouts of healthy eating only to fall back into the crappy eating cycle and yo-yo dieting?
Do you want to finally understand that getting the butt you WANT isn’t going to happen by sitting on the butt you got?!
The point of this article is to give you motivation to do something right NOW.
TAKE MASSIVE ACTION…
Follow the following steps carefully, preferably in order…but it’s a deal breaker.
1.) Quit complaining, belly-aching, or moaning about how tired, mad, or bad your life is.
To be quite frank…nobody really cares. Before you go all “how dare he…”Let me explain
Oh, quick note: If you are feeling down, depressed, or BLAH…STOP feeling sorry for yourself, stop blaming the world or someone else. Ok let’s move forward…
We ALL face obstacles, problems, issues. How you deal, respond, and accept these obstacles defines who you are and determines how happy, healthy, and successful you will be in life.
Did you read between the lines? The secret to “motivation” is in there.
How you respond to life, people, circumstances determines how happy, healthy, and successful you will be.

2.) Read a few INSPIRING Quotes from your Favorite “Person”
We ALL need mentors and go to phrases, gems, WORDS that for whatever unexplainable reason get us fired up.
Here are a few quotes from MY “people:”
“You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight.” – Jim Rohn
“You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action.” – Tony Robbins
“People who fail to achieve their goals usually get stopped by frustration. They allow frustration to keep them from taking the necessary actions that would support them in achieving their desire. You get through this roadblock by plowing through frustration, taking each setback as feedback you can learn from, and pushing ahead. I doubt you’ll find many successful people who have not experienced this. All successful people learn that success is buried on the other side of frustration.” – Tony Robbins
There a literally THOUSANDS of “quotes” out there and you probably need NON fitspirational quotes like: “You’re only a workout away from a good mood” or “You’re lapping everyone else on the couch.”
To me those are lame, BUT if they do it for you, then write those bad boys on your wall.
Maybe my quotes are lame to you, and that’s fine, because we are ALL different, we have difference triggers, emotions, frustrations, and thoughts.
Do what works for you.
3.) Get your INTERNAL Physiology Balanced with some Real Food
Don’t eat junk food, fast food, processed food, or anything like that.
Eat a freaking smoothie or fruit salad with a few nuts. Drink a HUGE glass of high-quality water or a few gulps of coconut water.
Eat AMAZING for ONE day. Just one day. Hell just one meal!
And be PRESENT with your meal, don’t text, eat, e-mail, chug your Diet Coke or caramel latte.
Eat some food that has LIFE so it promotes life in you.
We treat our stomachs like garbage cans and disposals, yet we expect to run like Ferraris and Bentley…our bodies are awesomely resilient, BUT take care of them…you only have one.
Still Feeling Blue? Do one of the following 5 things:
1. Go for a walk…without your phone.(UNPLUGGED)
2. Call up your FAVORITE person who ALWAYS lifts you up with positivity…not your friend who ALWAYS has drama, or your Mom who annoys you…if you don’t have a friend that you can call (go to number 3)
3. Find new friends…or a supportive community of fit-minded women who share your struggles who can LIFT you up, instead of bring you down
4. I don’t mean sit with your legs crossed and say OHMMMM, although you could. I mean just try and sit in complete silence for 10 minutes and just watch your crazy mind go. You’ll be amazed at the insane stories going on in our heads. Try (but don’t try too hard)…BOOM that’s Zen.
5. Put on your favorite music playlist and JAM out, dance, and get crazy!
Actually, do all of the above. Invest about 30 minutes and you can do “a” through “e” and have a sensual impact on the rest of your day.
After your solo dance part.
4.) Be grateful and appreciative about everything. Then, tell or show someone.
It’s scientically proven being grateful enhances your internal physiology instantly making you happier (thus, healthier). IF you want to 10X this feeling, actually TELL or SHOW someone just how awesome you think they are and why.
“Hey, I just wanted to give you a call and let you that I really appreciate you because…”
Or call your mom and tell her you LOVE Her. She’ll feel amazing, and who doesn’t feel amazing if your Mom is happy? If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!
Happiness in and of itself is extremely motivating. The problem most people have with happiness, is they are too busy LOOKING for it, instead of just BEING it.
Happiness is all around you, waiting to be created and expressed. Don’t look. Just be happy, grateful, and appreciative…It’s list instant motivational fairy dust.
5.) List as many positive outcomes of achieving your fitness or weight loss goals
Think about what you’d like to accomplish today. Start small.
Then think about what you’d like to accomplish this week. Getting a bit bigger.
Then think about this month. Then year…You get the idea.
Don’t worry about everything that’s holding you back from accomplishing it. Instead, focus on the positive things that will happen once you get it done.
For example, if you want to lose weight, you want to set a few BEHAVIOR goals, like:
- I will wake up 10 minutes early to prepare a healthy breakfast with pastured eggs cooked in coconut oil with a side of fruit.
- I will also pack my 2 snacks and lunch since I KNOW I will be busy at work.
- I will do 35 minutes of bodyweight training this evening in between doing laundry and helping the kids with their homework
- I will avoid caffeine when I get home, so I can ensure sounder sleep
It’s a good idea if you focus on the BIGGEST things that are inhibiting your progress and causing the most frustration. I call this your “stressor.”
Most important of all, focus on behaviors before outcomes. Your behaviors determine your outcomes.
Here is the most important step…
Stop looking for MORE motivation and don’t allow yourself to procrastinate.
Realize that your frustration is telling you something.
Understand that without action results will NEVER come.
At least with action, even it’s the “wrong” action, at the very least you aren’t staying stagnant and you are LEARNING something. Listen to the feedback and fine-tune your process.
But most importantly, take the freakin’ action.
Doing the WORK is the solution to all life’s problems.
