IHOP (International House of Primal) Big Steak Omelette

The IHOP Big Steak Omelette (sometimes with a side of whole grain pancakes) was seriously my FAVORITE thing to eat about 6 years ago, when I ate at places like IHOP.

The Big Steak has about 54 grams of Unsaturated fatty oils, conventionally fed/factory farmed eggs/meat, and who knows WHAT else  I normally am able to find the ingredients to just about anything, but couldn’t for this meal). And contains dairy, soy, wheat, and gluten, all this for about $10 bucks.

My organic, soy-free farm fresh egg, grass-fed beef version I made for about $6-$7 buckaroos!

I remember sometimes the fixins would be mostly on the outside, so that is how I prepared this Primal version, plus it’s easier to make look like an omelette, because there is less chance of it falling apart!

Serve with sriracha, ketchup, or good quality steak sauce.

Big Steak Omellete Recipe


  • 4 eggs
  • ¼ lb. grass-fed beef sirloin, chopped
  • ⅛ cup green bell peppers, diced
  • ⅛ cup tomatoes, diced
  • ⅛ cup green onions, diced
  • ¼ cup mushrooms
  • 1 small potato, shredded
  • ⅛ cup cheddar cheese (KerryGold or raw grass-fed)
  • Coconut oil for frying/omeletting
  • Salt and pepper

Steps to crEATe:

1.)    Begin frying has browns. Shred potato using food processer. Squeeze out excess water either with strainer or by hand (I used my hands, Primal!). Heat skillet to medium-high heat and add 2 Tbsp. coconut oil (or grass-fed butter). Add shredded potatoes to skillet, salt and pepper to potatoes. Stir and fry. While cooking, prepare omellete.

2.)    Add 1 Tbsp. coconut oil to separate pan to cook steak and vegetables. Add steak, cook/stir for 2 minutes. Add bell peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and green onions. Stir/cook for 5 minutes. Set aside in small bowl.

3.)    Whisk eggs in small bowl, add salt and pepper.

4.)    In omellete skillet (or same skillet you made the steak and veggies in, which is what I did) add 2 Tbsp. coconut oil. Toss in whisked eggs when skillet is hot.

5.)    Form into an omelette by flipping half –way.

6.)    Cook until eggs are done (no more than 3-4 minutes). Place on plate, add steak and toppings. Top with grated cheddar cheese, garnish with green onions. Side of hash browns.

7.)    Enjoy!
